From Women's Visions 2000 exhibition program,
Indiana, Pennsylvania,
March 14 to April 24, 2000:
Julie Bernstein Engelmann studied with abstract expressionist Milton Resnick and received her B.A. from Barnard College, New York, NY in 1979, and her M.F.A. from UCLA in 1989.
Her work:
My artworks stem from the texture of a meaningful experience or image. That texture serves as "true north" to guide the overall form, while I watch for the parts to come alive in a process of surrender and explore; explore and surrender.
Moments when beautiful accidents appear and elements resonate truthfully are fulfilling; when all parts resonate together is completion. I stop right there and leave it raw to teach me, like you marvel at your child.
